Saratoga Blossom Festival, June 8
June 8 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Come enjoy the historic Saratoga Blossom Festival that celebrates Saratoga’s orchard history and world famous fruit! This will be my seventh year at the Blossom Festival where I will share tastes of apricot recipes, local apricot products, and sign the 5th Anniversary Edition of my cookbook/memoir: For the Love of Apricots: Recipes and Memories of the Santa Clara Valley. I hope you will join me at this charming event located in the Saratoga Heritage Orchard as we appreciate the Valley of Heart’s Delight of the past and the orchards that remain today!
The Saratoga Heritage Orchard site was originally part of the Quito Rancho Mexican land grant in 1841, which included present-day Saratoga, Campbell, and Cupertino. In the 1880s, it was owned by the Marian family. The property was purchased by F.C .Cox in the 1920s, who farmed apricots and prunes for 30 years. In the 1950s, the land was owned and farmed by three generations of the Seagraves family until the City of Saratoga purchased the land in the 1970s to preserve it as a working orchard representative of the once vast Valley of Heart’s Delight agricultural heritage. Saratoga’s Novakovich family brought this orchard back to life in the late ’70s and maintained it as a productive commercial orchard, producing Bing cherries, Blenheim apricots, and French prunes for over 40 years.
Explore the orchard, discover the work of local artisans, enjoy antique cars along with lively tunes of Bluegrass & Dixieland music, the hum of vintage farm motors, and stop by to see me in the heart of the orchard!
