I am creating a database of apricot growers in the Bay Area, California, Washington, and beyond. My goal is to connect apricot loving consumers to the source of our favorite fruit! I would like to include your apricot business on a list and map of producers that is featured on my website and shared through social media. I hope that through this effort you will enjoy increased sales and growth in demand for your products.
In 2018, I published For the Love of Apricots: Recipes and Memories of the Santa Clara Valley, a cookbook with over 60 apricot recipes that range from breakfast to cocktails. The cookbook also includes orchard photography and short stories about my personal memories of growing up on an orchard property. My cookbook/memoir has sold very well in the Bay Area and beyond. Based upon this success, I published a 2nd Edition of the book this spring. I have grown a wide audience through book sales and a blog I have been writing about apricots and the Santa Clara Valley since 2016. Readers send me comments on social media about how passionate they are about great tasting apricots. They want to know where they can find them!
For the Love of Apricots includes a Resources section with information about orchards and farm products in Santa Clara, San Benito, and Stanislaus Counties. I have a more extensive list and interactive maps of apricot farms and farmshops on my website. I would like to expand this resource information to all regions where apricots are grown. Thank you for your collaboration on this apricot orchard “finder” project! I will continue to invite my readers to engage with farms and apricot producers throughout the country – after all, apricot lovers live everywhere. And, as we all must adapt to the challenges of the current Corona virus and social distancing, I will remind my followers to support local orchards and farm shops, as I did in this recent blogpost. That’s where the best fresh fruit is grown.
